mY STORY

My name is Matt Lawrence — a former amateur boxing champion and currently an undefeated professional boxer with a 3–0 record. My fourth professional fight takes place on March 21st, and this is only the beginning.

I first stepped into a boxing gym at 14 years old through Empire Fighting Chance (chatgpt://generic-entity?number=0), a charity that would go on to change my life. I was referred there as a teenager facing significant challenges, battling mental health struggles and difficult family circumstances. At just 15, I moved out and began supporting myself — learning resilience, discipline, and independence at a young age.

Boxing became my focus and my outlet.

Over a three-year amateur career, I won belts, medals, and trophies, establishing myself as a champion and earning recognition for my dedication to the sport. During that time, I began working with my current coach, Darren Hamilton (chatgpt://generic-entity?number=1), a former British Champion who elevated my skills and prepared me to transition into the professional ranks.

At 20 years old, I made my professional debut as the main event in my hometown of Bristol — a milestone moment in front of my city. Since then, I have built a 3–0 professional record and continue to grow a strong and loyal following at home.

Today, alongside my professional career, I work full-time as a mentor at Empire Fighting Chance — a true full-circle journey from being a young person in need of guidance to now giving back and helping shape the next generation.

This is more than boxing. It’s about resilience, growth, and proving that your starting point doesn’t define your future.
